I have to say there are so many new apps available and some are great for the outdoorsman...but I really spend so much time on phone that when I am in the field - I do not want to use it unless it is an emergency! lol

Kerry -- Great Example bud! Thanks...wife saw it and said -- "I think you should start doing that as well..." Always learning - always learning.

Thanks to both of you.r.b. wrighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12128054774238213562noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2080427720949444782.post-21614218427776847792011-04-12T18:24:32.701-04:002011-04-12T18:24:32.701-04:00RB, thanks for the reminder. My wife, Stephanie ...RB, thanks for the reminder. My wife, Stephanie and I use this every time I head to the woods. In fact, I use Google Maps to "drop a pin" on the location on where I'll be prior to leaving the house. In addition, I can "drop another pin" once I arrive in the woods or at the camp site once I arrive. This way Stephanie knows where the boys and I are.

Here is an example... I have "dropped a pin" on our home in Southern California. http://goo.gl/maps/kjAj

We also have a standing Emergency Procedure that if she doesn't hear from me within 24 hours of the time I leave the house that she is to contact the police department and show them my Google Maps "pin location", what time I left the house, drive time to the location, truck description, license plate number, cell phone, etc...

We have found this makes everyone feel better about our hunting trips.

Pastor KerryChaplain to the Outdoorsmenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04382668275604573589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2080427720949444782.post-45947418254216685952011-04-12T09:32:32.862-04:002011-04-12T09:32:32.862-04:00I had actually asked a question like this on my bl...I had actually asked a question like this on my blog regarding cell phone apps for outdoorsfolk a few months back. Got a lot of different responses, but nobody even mentioned the safety aspect. Great post & tip.

Original post:
Do Cell Phones & The Outdoors Mix?Michael Agnetahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06240860871106731965noreply@blogger.com
